Grandma's Banana Pudding

1 1/2 Cups of sugar
6 Tbsp self rising flour
3 cups of milk (as desired)
2 eggs
1 tbsp vanilla (as desired)
A dash of salt
Bananas (2-3)
Vanilla waffers

Whip up eggs ahead of time
Sift together sugar and flour
Stir in the milk and heat until dissolved   stir with spoon
Add whipped up eggs to mixture  still heating and stirring
Then add salt and vanilla
Cook on medium heat until consistency of mixture starts to thicken
Pour layer of pudding into baking crock
Add layer of vanilla wafers to crock
Add layer of bananas to crock

Repeat layering steps until pudding is done

Add meringue layer (ingredients not listed above) and bake until meringue browns

10 minutes
375 F

  1. Grandma always went by texture, consistancy and feel. While she did her best to show me how to make this, this is a true Grandma original. She was from South Georgia and this is as much a southern delight as it is a family homemade recipe. I hope yours turns out even marginally good as hers because if it does, you are in for a treat. I hope you enjoy.
